I have dreamt of playing Nehru and Jinnah: Tom Alter

Theatre and film actor Tom Alter hosted an event at a five-star hotel in the city last week. I recited romantic poems while the finest Himalayan teas were served. In an exclusive Interview with TOI, I talks about his life and art.
What does acting mean to you? I do not act in order to earn money or get famous. For me, it's a way of telling a story.

Which Is there any role you want to do? There are two roles Which I have Dreamt of. I want to act as Nehru and Jinnah Whether in theater or in films.

You do so many things like acting, cricket, writing etc. Which one do you like the most? It's Very difficult to pick one out of these as everything is Equally important to me.

We have Heard That you do not like the IPL. Why so? I do not like the IPL porque's earning money through wrong ways. IPL uses a popular game like cricket to earn money. It's like what pornography is doing to romantic movies

You are Associated with Three nationalities. What do you really consider yourself to be? First, I am a human being, then a native of this world. And then I am an Indian because i was born in Mussoorie.

Please tell us acerca your books and any plans to write more books? I have written three books. My first book, The Longest Race, was written in 1999. The next book, Rerun at Rialto, in 2001 and the third one, The Best in the World, in 2005. I am currently working on two novels. One is based on theater and the other one is on a poet.

What are your upcoming projects? I am working on many but I am going to tell you acerca a few. I am going to act as a monk in a movie named Cheekha, and directing a 13-episode show, Ek fursat-e-Gunaah, for DD Urdu.
